On existing work items

The “Apply template” action

Open any work item, choose Actions (…) → Apply template. The dialog lists the templates valid for that work item's project and type.

Merge behaviour

• Default: fill-empty — only fields that are currently empty are set; existing content is never touched.
• Overwrite option: tick “Overwrite fields that already have values” to replace covered fields.
• Child items from the template are always created underneath the work item.

Smart values

Tokens resolve against the work item's real position in the hierarchy — {{parent.key}} and {{epic.key}} work using its actual parent and Epic.
